Aloha family and friends,

It is an honor and a privilege to be named the President of the Rotary Club of Kapolei for 2011/2012.  I sincerely appreciate your confidence in me to serve in this leadership role.

Webster’s defines family as 1) all the people living in the same house, 2) parents and their children, 3) relatives, 4) all those descended from a common ancestor, lineage, and 5) a group of related or similar things.  When I look at the members of our Rotary Club, I see family in every aspect of the definition of the word.  And “We are Family” is the theme I have chosen for my Rotary year.

I have been a Rotarian for five years.  I was drawn to the Rotary motto of “Service above Self.”  The Rotary way provides the opportunity for service that we cannot do all on our own.  The members of the Rotary Club of Kapolei provide scholarships to high school students pursuing a college degree, expand the minds of 3rd graders by providing them with their own personal dictionary, collect school supplies for elementary and intermediate students who have a need, recognize and honor the US Vets with holiday meals and clothing in appreciation for service to their country, and supply a library with books in the Philippines.  These projects push us to do more; find more within ourselves and find more to give.

My commitment to this club is to attract new members of all ages who support the ideals of Rotary service above self and continue to value the commitment of existing members by engaging them in fellowship, club projects and sharing the word of what ordinary people can accomplish through the extraordinary work of Rotary.    After all….we are family.

Mahalo,

Christina Enoka

President

Rotary Club of Kapolei
